MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 239

Welcome to the 239th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday. The winner will receive an MP3 download courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery jam clip. Each person gets one guess – if no one guesses correctly, I will post a hint on Tuesday, after which each person gets one more guess before I reveal the correct answer on Wednesday around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Good luck!

Note: As with MJM 237, this video MJM does not have audio. While I may use video with audio for future MJMs, these silent MJMs will rely on your ability to pick up on visual cues to identify these clips without any music. In the interest of fairness, I won't be using any video that can't be found on YouTube or Vimeo – I will be screen capturing from those sites directly, not from my own collection.

Answer: Congrats to first-time winner, @Franklin, who won this week's video-sans-audio MJM by correctly identifying the 7/6/13 Split Open and Melt in stunningly quick fashion (18 minutes?!), and takes home a download code for any show from LivePhish.com. Next week's MJM will be harder than those from the past two weeks, but it won't be as hard as the last of the month. Won't you come out to play?

Yep, that's the point. Switching it up with the format. I forgot to add that information in the post; will do that now.

VictorWootang Imagine, as hard as it may be, that you are a person uninitiated to Phish. You stumble upon this site, see a video from what could be any show over the past 5 years, with no volume, and yet people are immediately able to tell you where it was from. How crazy must this seem to that person?

Never change, .net.

Tuna_Belly @Franklin Beat me to it!! Nicely done. One of my favorite jams I've witnessed.

Imagine, as hard as it may be, that you are the person in charge of choosing the MJMs each week. You stumble upon this idea, where you splice out two minutes of a video from what could be any show over the past 5 years, with no volume, and despite your concern that everyone will complain that what you've done is just too freaking difficult, people are immediately able to tell you where it was from. How crazy must this seem to that person?

Absofuckinglutely nuts I tell ya. 18 minutes?!

MiguelSanchez Wtf? I was at that show and never would've gotten this
, comment by WiscoHood
WiscoHood As a long time observer of these shenanigans, that was thoroughly impressive. Did you love Page's shirt while you were at that show and decided to buy the same one, thus making you remember this particular show so well, visually at least?! Well done dude.

I'm telling you man, you gotta give 'em my other MJM. You know, that MJM. One of these geniuses will be able to crack it. Especially the updated, less difficult version -- that should be a cinch for anybody who can identify a couple minutes of soundless video in under 20 minutes.

dscott I was there, and I didn't recognize it. This MJM might convert me from a lawn believer to a non-believer!

metawhy This new format is pretty cool, but I guess I usually came here to listen to some new music. With this silent video thing, I don't actually hear anything, so it is sort of a dead end. I guess I could look up the show and find the song, but it was very nice to hear a snippet of an odd jam to kind of pique the interest a bit. It usually made me go and listen to the show. This silent video thing does't have that same type of draw for me.

While understanding what you say, go check out that show.

uctweezer For those complaining: You guys know that the video format is just a "once in a while for fun" type thing, and not a permanent unilateral change in the format, right?

weekapaug4398 Very tough! Impressive win! Right off the cuff I had a feeling it was Tweezer just based on Trey's face and bobbing....he was really into it......this was a fun one!!!
