You didn't already know that? Page and Mike are the most creative ones during improvisation these days, Trey drives the peaks.

Well, from this MJM I learned how much Trey recycles melodies and licks.

The CDT struck me immediately. I was stumped on the first one but started digging into that run. I spot checked the disease but that didn’t sound right. I was listening to the passage in NMINNL as you posted it. I didn’t have a chance to fully confirm CDT when I posted but I knew if you were getting warm, others were gonna be poking around there real soon.

Ah, I spent like 40 minutes searching for that NMINML, but I was so sure that the other one was Light that I didn't even bother to check if it was right. Now I can hear that the two licks aren't quite the same.

The CDT is forever stuck in my brain. It’s one of those times where eating L at the show maybe went against you a bit. Not in a terrible way, but I couldn’t get back in the moment because I couldn’t nail down what Trey was teasing. I was stuck in my own head, if you will. Finally it hit me that it was Paul Simons “Homeward Bound.”

right off the bat i knew i had heard both clips. sure enough, nminml was my pick for 2017 joty (and listened to, i don't know, at least 100 times already!) and the chalk dust torture was played in one of my favorite sets of 2017. but....huge brain fart and shear panic as i couldn't for the life of me figure out the tracks.

the elusive 7th mjm win remains, well, elusive.

It's lonely at the top @lostboy01 ! I was on the floor for the 12/29 show. I recall that Chalkdust having a wonky 7/10/99 peak sound at one point, but could have just been me. I was listening to Set II of the Great Went earlier today. When's the next half second MJ clip?
